Title: Death of a President
Author: William Manchester
Recently read this book (after 40 years) -- it holds up beautifully and is a classic of true-life reporting, character development and the ability to capture a unique and tragic time in American history -- the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. In decades of reading, I have never read an effort that covers not just the event itself, but its prelude and complex aftermath. Strongly recommend.
