     A historical romance of the Brides of Wishmore series. An earl named Germac Enright (Mac) winds up in prison after being wrongfully charged of a murder. A priest is sent to help him escape. Mac is also a physician. He escapes and is found on an abandoned sheep shack after taking a fever in Scotland. Sabrina Davidson is a woman who finds out her dad is marrying a disreputable widow in front of her peers at a luncheon. She runs off in embarrassment and comes upon in the field far off the sheep shack with Mac in it and from there starts the adventure of them falling in love and clearing Mac's name of the murder.

     A historical romance of the Brides of Wishmore series, with Lady Tara Davidson in another book before this encounter and a man named Breccan Campbell. Breccan has bought up her father's gambling notes and unless Tara marries him her Dad will be thrown in debtors' prison. Tara marries him eventually but is afraid of him because he is a huge towering man. She sees he is a caring good man as the story goes on and eventually realizes how much she loves him truly when an old flame comes around from when she was younger..

Lilac Girls

Title: Lilac Girls
Author: Martha Hall Kelly

     The book spans the time from 1939 when Hitler invades Poland  through the late 1950's and tells the story of three women whose lives become intertwined during the course of the war and afterwards. Caroline lives in New York and works at the French consulate. Karen is a young teenager from Poland sent to Ravensbruck concentration camp and Hesta is a doctor working with the Nazis at Ravensbruck. The book was based on the lives of actual people though the names were changed. I thought the book was very well written and highly recommend it.

     Historical romance - Cathy Maxwell is a great author. This is her third book I've read and I find I can follow the characters very easily. This book is about a young Scottish woman named Grace and a gentleman named Richard. He instantly comes to her rescue twice in one night the first time he meets her. Meanwhile he was upon meeting her supposed to give her a piece of his mind because of her accusations to his dad and uncle. They wind up going to Scotland to hear the truth from her father who was sentenced for ten years for "supposedly" stealing money and blamed by Richard's dad and uncle. Great adventure of a book!

Amelia

Title: Amelia (movie)
Starring Hilary Swank and Richard Gere

     A story of the life of Amelia Earhart. I found it very interesting and informative. I was already aware of who Amelia Earhart was but the movie delved also into her personal life. She was truly into "woman's lib" long before it became a popular term. Hilary Swank and Richard Gere did a great job portraying Amelia and her husband George Putnam.

Blue Jasmine

Title: Blue Jasmine (movie)

     This movie brings in a lot of psychological elements as it shows you a woman's heartbreaking story of denial and drug and alcohol addiction. It teaches you to be kind to others all the time, not just when you need them as was the case with Jasmine who shunned her poorer sister when she was living the high life. The ending was rather up in the air but an interesting movie nonetheless.

     A historical romance that would probably be a good TV program. A woman named Aileen is sent to London to marry. Marries an abusive husband. She acts like she was promiscuous with another man so her husband will divorce her, which is unheard of in those days. Her sister years later is sent to be married in London. Is promised to a man named Blake but runs back home to her sister Aileen to avoid the marriage. Blake chases her to her home in the country and upon seeing Tara's sister Aileen falls in love with her. The wrong sister. Great story from there.

Years later Gavin meets up with Felicity at a party and learns her husband has died. She is now alone and has hopes of rekindling their relationship.

     It's a historical romance. this book is part of the "Prelude to a Kiss" series. Sophie Wembley's sister has eloped and now has ruined the chance for her or her sister to make a good marriage prospect. Because of her sister's elopement her family is now disgraced, especially since they are on the lower rung of the aristocracy ladder. Evan winds up being friends with Sophie under the guise of providing a friend for his sister. The more time together they spend the more he winds up realizing he's falling in love with Sophie. Sophie is excited because she secretly has been in love with Evan for the past two years of seasons. She has to hurry though to get him to marry her before the news of her sister's scandal breaks.

Marriage of Opposites

     Although I found the very beginning of the book to be slow moving, once I got into it, I really enjoyed it. It is historical fiction based on true facts of the life of the famous artist Camille Pissarro. It takes place in the early 1800s on St. Thomas and starts with his mother Rachel's life as a young girl. I found the book to be very informative and interesting.

     This was a novel about Willow and friction between her parents. Her parents were so different they were divorced. Rosie - the mom - was free and unstructured. Rex was the dad - he was structured. Willow loved her mother and only wanted to be with her. Her mother died of an overdose and Willow and her father had to learn how to live and love again.

     A young couple move from Ohio to Skilak Lake in Alaska. They start out in a tent, build a cabin and get animals. The only way to the town to get supplies is across Skilak Lake which is difficult at the change of seasons. In the winter they drive across it and in summer use a boat. But in between seasons it gets scary.
     Great book.

When he realizes his mistake he is in a car accident and dies. His brother makes a promise to him on his death bed that he will take care of his wife.
     Does Gabriel marry her?
Great book.

     Loved it! Lady Pandora is caught getting an earring out of a chair and a man named Gabriel St. Vincent is caught helping free her head she got caught in the chair. Then she is compromised to society's standards and is forced by the Tons' standards to marry him. It was also interesting to know what a "bathing machine" was. I actually looked up pictures on the Internet to see it. Definitely cool!

Although I did finish it, it didn't hold my interest and live up to the review "enthralling and suspenseful, emotional thriller, will have you riveted till the shocking end, with killer twists".

     This novel was geared toward the teenage reader - about a family where tragedy happens due to a car accident. John is the main character dealing with his brother's accident that left him paralyzed for life. The entire family blames themselves for the accident - until one day they all figure it out.
     They all start living life again and dealing with life - and the novel has a happy ending.

     Jenny meets her childhood sweetheart, marries and adopts his three children. She finds out her grandmother wrote her father (while she was on summer vacation) to tell him she fell in love with her childhood sweetheart. Her  father had left the Amish and hoped she'd have a college education. He told the boy to discourage their friendship. She never knew till she found letters from her dad to her grandmother. She also wants to conceive her own child but due to an accident isn't sure if she can get pregnant. Great book.

The next week a widowed bishop arrives in search of a wife. He picks Miriam. She kisses the reporter even though she's promised to the bishop. Does she follow her heart or her religious principles? Great book.

A baron who returns from the war and was told to go to Bath to get healed from his injuries from the war winds up going (by mistake) to relax there and doesn't realize he went to the week of a music festival. He goes to complain to his neighbor about her "voracious" piano playing and thinks it's a man and it turns out to be a young woman named Charity.
