Miriam is Amish and is resigned to never marrying till a freelance reporter comes to her community. She has feelings for him but she cannot marry him as he is not Amish. The next week a widowed bishop arrives in search of a wife. He picks Miriam. She kisses the reporter even though she's promised to the bishop. Does she follow her heart or her religious principles? Great book.
